PASTOR MOLLY
A Brief Biography of Rev. Molly Warren, Senior Pastor
PastorMolly@tumcfl.org
Since July 1, 2011, Molly has served as the Senior Pastor at
TUMC, involved in all aspects of the life of the church
through worship, leadership, teaching, visitations, pastoral
care, and administrative duties. Her warmth, passion, and
good humor are trademarks of her leadership as she strives
to bring God's grace to all people, in every walk of life.
She has a collaborative leadership style and seeks to
utilize the spiritual gifts and God-given talents of both
staff and lay leadership. Prior to her current ministry
assignment, she served as Senior Pastor of First UMC in New
Smyrna Beach, and as Associate Pastor at Asbury UMC in
Maitland, Florida.
Before she became a minister, Molly was Vice President at
L-3 Communication's aerospace division. A devout Methodist
for many years, Molly faced personal restlessness at work, a
search for more meaning in her life, and heartbreak in her
family. During this time of brokenness, the Lord spoke into
her life in a powerful way and called her into ordained
ministry.
Leaving her secular profession behind, she completed her
Master of Divinity at Asbury Theological Seminary while
serving as the Associate Pastor at Asbury UMC. During this
time Molly launched Celebrate Recovery, a support group,
which became an important "church within a church" for those
affected by addiction. Molly earned her bachelor's degree
from Rollins College, and then pursued graduate studies in
engineering at UCF while working at progressively more
challenging assignments at Lockheed Martin.
Pastor Molly cherishes her husband of over 30 years, Frank,
their two sons, two stepsons and their four incredible
granddaughters. She has moved from launching rockets into
the heavens to a life devoted to serving others, leading
them into a relationship with Jesus and an eternal life in
Heaven.
Interview with Pastor Molly
Questions for Pas tor
Molly
In a wide-ranging interview, Rev. Molly
Warren sat down and discussed her vision
as pastor of Tuskawilla and the church's
priorities for the coming year. Pastor
Molly also reflected on her first 90
days as our senior pastor.
Well, the end of
September represented your 90-day mark
at TUMC. How would you categorize the
first 90 days?
This first quarter
has been incredibly dynamic for me and
for this church. I found a congregation
that was poised and ready to "move
forward" and respond to Christ's charge
to serve. The positive energy and
determination to change for the better
have been very encouraging to me.
What will be your
top priorities during your first year at
TUMC and share your vision of the future
with us.
When you walked in the door at TUMC on
July 1, the youth minister had just
resigned and there was no children's
minister. Since then you've brought on a
new youth minister and are talking about
the need to add a children's minister as
well. How important is it for TUMC to
actively foster these ministries for our
young people?
The way we focus on children and youth
says a lot about who we are at TUMC. At
the most impressionable time (and the
ages where most make their life decision
for Christ), we must have a
comprehensive plan and opportunities for
telling our children about Christ as
their Lord and Savior. Our activities
and teaching need to be engaging and
interactive to start a life of
discipleship at the earliest possible
age. Pastor Bill has already planned a
Confirmation Class for early 2012. We
need to have a children's minister to
work with and lead our eager volunteers.
I see TUMC as a beacon of hope for our
community and an example for other
churches.
